Couples for Christ or CFC as it is commonly called is a Catholic lay organization intended for the renewal and strengthening of Christian family life. It began in Manila in 1981 by bringing married couples together to have a better and closer relationship with Jesus Christ through weekly discussion of the gospel. This was the precursor of the modern Christian Life Program or CLP, the entry point of all members of Couples for Christ.
Later, CFC evolved into a family renewal program with the creation of the different family ministries namely Kids for Christ for children below twelve years old, Youth for Christ catering to the teens, Singles for Christ for unmarried single adults below 40 years old, Handmaids of the Lord for unmarried matured women, separated women and widows, and the Servants of the Lord administering to the spiritual needs of unmarried matured men, separated men and widowers.
Today, Couples for Christ is found in almost all parts of the world and has become a major partner of the Catholic Church in the renewal of Christian family life. It is also very active in uplifting the lives of the poor through ANCOP (Answering the Cry of the Poor) Ministry.
